What is an escape room?
An escape room is a live adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room/story to solve a series of mental and physical obstacles and escape within the set time limit.
How do I get out?
Solving all the mysteries, piecing together the puzzles and completing the challenges will eventually reveal the secret to escaping! Using teamwork and communication is key.
Is it claustrophobic?
You will be locked in a room and you will not be able to get out yourself until all challenges are solved, however we are watching and listening every second so if there is any problem, or anyone feels uncomfortable, we can let you out in seconds. In a worst case scenario you could bang on the door and we are 5 seconds away to let you out.
The rooms themselves are not small, we limit the amount of participants at 5 so that people have enough space to move around comfortably.
Is anyone going to jump out at me?
We’ve decided to add this on here as everyone is intrigued to know 🙂 The answer is no, no one is going to jump out at you in any of our existing games. We will not rule it out for future games though 🙂
The price for adults depends on group size:
- 2 Adults = £20 each (£40 total)
- 3 Adults = £18 each (£54 total)
- 4 Adults = £17 each (£68 total)
- 5 Adults = £16 each (£80 total)
Children between the ages of 11 – 17 are £12 but they contribute to the group size to make adults cheaper as well. So if 3 adults and 1 child, the adults pay as if there are 4 adults, so £17 each, as opposed to £18 each.
8 and under are free, but do not affect group size. 2 adults and 3 under 8s would be £40, or £20 for each adult.
This may seem a bit complicated but if you go to www.rockescaperooms.com/booking/ and use the “options” to input your group the prices will change automatically. If any queries please contact us.
Do I have to book in advance?
Booking in advance is highly recommended as it guarantees your preferred slot. Bookings are easy on our website using our scheduler here or you can book via email: email@example.com. However, if you happen to stumble across us and a member of staff is present, we will try to accommodate you at the next available time slot.
Am I clever enough?
Of course! The games require no previous knowledge of any specific topics.
Is there an age limit? And is an adult required for children’s groups?
We strongly advise an adult to participate with children who are 11 and under. From what we have seen this age group find the games very difficult. Groups of 12 and up still find it difficult but can manage the games.
What are the minimum and maximum numbers of players per group?
The Box and Room 83 can hold a maximum of 5 and The Experiment can hold a maximum of 4.
Can we play in a group of 6?
Yes. We limit the games at 5 for space and game experience reasons, some of the challenges in the games are optimised for x amount of people, so occasionally during the game if there are 6 or more people then that many heads may not be needed at that time, but if you and your group is happy with this then so are we.
If I have a group too big for one room, can I adjust the time of the second game so that it runs at the same time?
Yes, as long as there is sufficient time space to do so, please contact us via our facebook page or firstname.lastname@example.org and we can do this from our side very easily.
Is there air conditioning for the summer months?
Yes, all games have good air conditioning installed.
What language is the game in?
Our games are in English only, however we are working on Spanish versions. It’s important to note that an intermediate to advanced level of English is required to grasp the content of the games in their current form.
Where are you?
Go to the Location page, there are directions for walkers and drivers there as well as a map.
What do I need to bring?
No need to bring anything special, all equipment needed to escape is provided before or during the games.
Is there anything prohibited?
We don’t take people’s phones away from them but we do ask that pictures are not taken so as not to reveal the secrets of the game. We also ask that no excessive force is used so as not to break anything within the game, all obstacles can be overcome without this.
When do we need to arrive?
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.
How do we pay?
Currently we are only accepting cash payments (either £ or €) on arrival of your booking.
What if we need to cancel after booking?
If you need to cancel after booking a time slot online, please contact us at the very earliest possible opportunity as we can re-open your time slots for other players. There is no cancellation fee but a courteous message to inform of us of a no-show, even if it’s an hour before your time slot, is still appreciated.
Accessibility and special requirements
Unfortunately our games are based on the first floor of a building with solely stair access (approx 15 steps) with no lift or wheelchair access. Once on this floor, all our games are on the same level. Unfortunately, the toilets do not have disability aiding equipment.
Very few aspects of our games require physical movements but we do recommend at least one member of your group does not have mobility problems. We also recommend that at least one member of your group does not have hearing problems as there are some audio based clues in our games. The majority of our clues in our games are visual and so it is recommended at least one member of your group does not have sight problems.
